Around The World in 80 Frames: Antarctica
The first part of a modular panoramic landscape and cityscape series. Around The World in Eighty Frames. Viewed from a helicopter overground and a submarine under the sea. Each illustration has to work as a singular piece with built in story cliff hangers. When complete the illustration can be slotted together into one sweeping cross section of the world.
Using a combination of paint markers on paper, Adobe Sketch and Photoshop to construct the panoramic images. My initial idea for this project came from the ancient "Tiger's Claw" comic book, wildlife documentaries and Koyaanisqatsi. I sketch character designs with Molotow Ink and paint using pump action markers. My first Antartica scene is a colony of Adelie Penguins. Colour palette - cold.
Limited Edition total of 200 giclee prints in 2 sizes on Hahnemüle Photorag 308 gsm weight.
Super matt finish of Hahnemüle Photorag. The paper gives muted blacks with even colour reproduction, and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. It has a delicate surface, so we recommend extra care when handling. Photorag is suitable for mounting but its cotton texture means edges can fray if not carefully handled.
